OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 22, 2005) - Vector Wind Energy Inc. ("Vector") (TSX VENTURE:VWE) is pleased to announce that it has successfully installed a 1.2 Megawatt Vensys wind turbine in Springhill, Nova Scotia. The installation was completed on behalf of a project development company owned by certain investment funds managed by First Asset Funds Inc. of Toronto. Vector was the original developer of the project and holds a minority interest in the project development company.
"This installation is an important milestone for the Company" said Graham Findlay, Vector's Vice President of Operations. "The Vensys turbine is the largest direct drive machine currently operating in North America" said Mr. Findlay. "Demonstrating that we can meet the challenge of large turbine installation, especially during winter conditions, enhances our credibility with turbine suppliers and utilities around the country. The experience we have gained will be extremely valuable as we build our own projects in the future."
Vector expects to install at least four more turbines for the project company during 2006.
Vector is a developer of wind energy projects in Canada. It is currently active in 6 provinces and Nunavut with 18 projects at various stages of exploration and development. These projects have the potential to support over 700MW of wind energy capacity.
